How to improve the quality of cervical mucus

  • Water – cervical mucus is 90 % water
  • Vitamin C – 1000mg per day may increase the water content of cervical mucus
  • Essential Fats – Evening Primrose increases the Egg white fertile mucus which helps transport the sperm to the egg.
  • L’Arginine – helps to promote cervical mucus by supporting the production of nitric oxide. Nitric Oxide dilates blood vessels and helps to increase blood flow to the uterus and ovaries. (Food sources include poultry, seeds and beans ).
  • Dark Leafy Greens and beetroot contain nitrates which are converted in nitric oxide so again can increase blood flow.
  • Bitters such as ginger, chicory and artichoke increase circulation and stimulate mucus membranes.
  • Making sure the environment is correct. The vaginal microbiome is really important. If you regularly suffer from thrush or cystitis there could be an imbalance of bacteria which can effect the PH. Supplementation with a probiotic that contains Lactobacillus rhamnosus and Lactobacillus fermentum has been shown to restore healthy vaginal flora in up to 82% of women with previous vaginal dysbiosis.
