My endometriosis story: Part 1
I am an endometriosis sufferer.
I had a laparoscopy and ablation treatment to remove severe endometriosis within my uterus and fallopian tubes 13 years ago. I think I had it some 10 years before that point but like many others, I was placed on the contraceptive pill at the age of 14 which masked the symptoms for many years.
Since the surgery, I managed to keep the symptoms of endometriosis at bay with a good diet ( anti-inflammatory) and supplementation and exercise. Unfortunately the last few months pain has started to rear its ugly head. It’s currently wrapped around my right ovary.
If you suffer you can only understand the pain. It’s crippling. The waves of pain coming and going, waking you up in the middle of the night, paracetamol not even touching the tip. The feeling of nausea and utter exhaustion. You want to curl up in a ball and hide from the world.
I don’t want any more surgery. I have my beautiful children which I am very blessed. So what is the solution? Pain management? Deal with it ?. I don’t have the answers. But what I do have is some things to try.
If you have ever had Fertility Massage with me I drone on about castor oil packs. It’s something that our tutor was very positive about. It involves soaking a cotton towel with castor oil and wrapping it around the abdomen and applying heat. The thought behind this is the castor oil aids lymphatic drainage and helps to break down adhesions ( whether that’s fibroids, cysts or endometrial tissue ). I’m going to try this next week and will report back with how I am getting on.
If you suffer too please look it up and see if it’s something that could help you.
Sorry for my waffle. I’ve barely slept. 6 hours in the past 48 hours is not enough. Brain dump.
You are not alone. Don’t suffer in silence.
